The One Day Comedy Intensive
with
Scott Sedita
and
Todd Rohrbacher:
“Dying’s easy. Comedy is hard.” Old adage,
but so true. The most common misconception about acting in TV
Comedies, is that it should be played broad, slapsticky or over
the top. On the contrary, there is a specific craft to Sitcom
acting. And the truth is, it may be more challenging than dramatic
acting. Scott Sedita’s One Day Comedy Intensive, based
on his bestselling book, “ The Eight Characters of Comedy”,
is a specially designed “Comedy Boot Camp,” where
actors learn the Sedita Method, which incorporates comedic technique
with character work. The actor will learn how to break down
a comedy/dramedy script, identify different types of jokes and
deliver them with comedic precision. Most importantly, actors
are introduced to Scott’s “Eight Characters of Comedy,”
which help actors find their comedic niche in half hour comedy.
The One Day Comedy Intensive lays the foundation for the work
that lies ahead and is a prerequisite to joining any on going
On-Camera TV & Film Comedy class (see below). The Comedy
Intensive is offered once a month on a Sunday (TBA) from 11am
to 5pm with lunch provided by Scott Sedita. Actors will work
at least five times a class.
PREREQUISITE: Must have strong acting technique and foundation.
NEXT CLASS ON SUNDAY, APRIL 11th.
Limited Seating. $199 for the day (which includes a copy of
Scott Sedita's book, "The
Eight Characters of Comedy - A Guide to Sitcom Acting and Writing")
